WE HAVE OUR OWN STYLE.

A new form of guesthouse

Unlike large city hotels or inns, this small, rural inn offers a rational and innovative form of luxury that can only be realized here.

Yukinosato Shisen offers a lodging experience that exceeds its price.

At guesthouse prices,
Maintain the quality of a traditional Japanese inn.

Not high-end,
I want to be of the highest quality.

Our goal was to create a guesthouse that offers the high-quality space and hospitality of a traditional Japanese inn, but at the friendly prices of a guesthouse.

To that end, we continue to carefully consider and explore both the content of our hospitality and the costs involved in creating our accommodations.

A history of running an inn in this place for six generations. Connections with the local people. The blessings of nature. And, doing what we can with our own hands.

Because we are a small inn, we make every effort to create an experience that exceeds the price.

A new form of guesthouse.
Five reasons why this is possible.

Like hotels and inns, we have obtained business licenses based on the Hotel Business Act, but we deliberately call ourselves a "minshuku" (guesthouse).

Our goal was to offer prices and services that would make us genuinely want to stay there ourselves.

We don't compromise on quality space and comfort, but we keep the costs of building the accommodation down through ingenuity and resourcefulness.

We offer the price of a guesthouse, but the quality of a traditional Japanese inn.

Here are five reasons why we believe this "new form of guesthouse" is achievable.

01 / LOCAL CONNECTIONS

For six generations,
Human connections.

All the staff are locals. The building's repairs are handled by a local carpenter who has been helping us since we opened. Our neighbors and friends share freshly picked vegetables with us.

The art pieces that adorn the museum were either lent to us free of charge by the artists or given to us at special prices.

Six generations of innkeeping have run this place for generations, fostering long-standing relationships with people. And new bonds have been forged through new encounters.

Each of these relationships supports the atmosphere and hospitality of Shisen.

A kind of richness that cannot be created simply by spending money,

It's here.

02 / SUSTAINABLE OPERATION

A pleasant rural setting.
That's precisely why it's possible.

Maintenance costs for land and buildings differ from those in urban areas.

The abundant natural hot spring water requires no heating, circulation, or disinfection, eliminating associated costs.

There is a large store nearby where you can purchase consumables.

There are also companies in the same area that can handle equipment maintenance and linen services.

Get what you need, when you need it, in a place close to you.

The ability to maintain a comfortable accommodation environment while minimizing travel and logistics time and costs is another unique appeal of this location.

The abundance of nature and the convenience that supports daily operations.

It's the perfect rural spot for both our customers and ourselves.

This comfortable distance contributes to the pleasant atmosphere of Shisen,

This supports reasonable pricing.

03 / LOCAL FOOD

The deliciousness is,
It's right nearby.

Home-grown vegetables,

Seasonal ingredients delivered from local farmers and contracted farmers.

We harvested the wild vegetables ourselves by going into the mountains on foot.

Even the pickled plums served with breakfast are prepared and made by hand, from harvesting the plums to the final product.

Every year, I participate in rice planting and rice harvesting.

He is also involved in rice farming.

Even irregularly shaped or sized, non-standard vegetables can be transformed into a wonderful dish that tastes and looks just as good with a little effort.

By making the most of our ingredients and minimizing waste, we maintain quality while keeping procurement costs down.

This is possible precisely because we have a close relationship with the producers.

Choosing ingredients and preparing the meal.

It's not just about spending money, but also about putting in the effort.

That's what supports Shisen's delicious taste and reasonable price.

04 / IN-HOUSE DESIGN

The design,
With our own hands.

From our official website and brochures to the signs and information displayed within the inn, to photography and video production, we create as much of the materials that convey the charm of our inn as possible ourselves.

We also offer souvenirs that are original items you can only get here, with meticulous attention paid to the planning and design, and specially commissioned from artisans.

The Aizu lacquerware that adorns the dishes includes antique pieces that had been stored away in a warehouse. Even if they get damaged, they are repaired by hand using the kintsugi technique and continue to be used with care.

It's not just about buying new things, but about modifying what you already have and creating new value.

Not only does it reduce outsourcing and purchasing costs, but because we handle everything ourselves, we can pay attention to even the smallest details.

There is value that cannot be created simply by spending money.

Ideas, effort, and a touch of playfulness.

That's the kind of inn-making style that's unique to Shisen.

05/ INITIAL COST

Reduce the cost of building the accommodation

By utilizing subsidies for renovations and the introduction of new equipment and furnishings, we were able to keep initial investment costs down. While making the most of the building's value, we focused on aspects that contribute to the comfort of our guests, such as the guest rooms, hot springs, and other facilities within the building.

Renovations are carried out during the off-season, avoiding peak hours when there are relatively fewer customers. Instead of completely renovating everything at once, improvements are made little by little each year to meet customer needs and tourism trends.

Get what you need, when you need it.

Use what you can carefully,

We will invest firmly in areas that need improvement.

Developing the inn with a realistic plan helps to keep initial investment and operating costs down, which is one of the reasons why we can offer a high-quality space and service while keeping accommodation prices low.

We don't aim to complete it all at once. We strive to make it an even better inn every year.

06 / SIMPLE SERVICE

What you need,
Just what you need.

The amenities in the guest rooms are carefully selected to include only the essentials.

We have re-evaluated services that were previously taken for granted in traditional Japanese inns, such as the attendants who guide guests to their rooms and take care of them, and the complimentary snacks provided in the guest rooms.

By passing those savings on to our guests in the form of lower accommodation rates, we aim to provide a comfortable stay at a more affordable price.

Keep the service simple. Enrich the lodging experience.

We provide services that allow you to spend your time comfortably while cherishing what you truly need.

That is what Shisen thinks

This is a new form of hospitality.
